Key Priorities of e-Health Network of Long Island
- Fulfill patients’ rights to have their vital health information protected and readily available to their medical providers, and empower patients to have access to their own health information.
- Apply the highest standards of privacy to health information and protect patients’ rights that are guaranteed to them by our nation’s privacy laws.
- Implement compatible technology among all health practitioners in the network and ultimately among different RHIOs, so that patients’ health information “follows” them whenever and wherever they seek medical testing and treatment.
- Seek input and continual feedback of patients, community organizations, providers, and all stakeholders in the work of
e-Health Network so that it remains flexible and responsive to the needs of the residents of Long Island.
- Welcome and nurture the participation of all community healthcare providers, including small medical practices and facilities, by offering an EMR-lite product and aligning clinical data exchange initiatives.
- Maintain complete openness and transparency in our operations by offering a welcoming, open hand to all members of our community.
- Place the highest value on community health by implementing in the healthcare field the same highly advanced, state-of-the-art technology applied in other arenas with the most effective privacy measures.
- Through Stony Brook University Medical Center, train the next generation of healthcare providers in health information
technology, telemedicine, and technologically advanced models of healthcare delivery.
- Deliver a health information exchange without cost barriers that adds value to medical practices, is financially sustainable,
and can ultimately lead to improved quality and lower healthcare costs.
